What is hypnobirthing?
The Hypnobirthing method is based on the work of Grantly Dick-Read, MD, the English obstetrician who wrote Childbirth Without Fear in 1944. According to Dr.Dick-Read, the use of hypnobirthing helps labouring women and birthing people break what he termed the "Fear-Tension-Pain syndrome" which makes labour more difficult.
Relaxation through hypnobirthing would prevent that from happening and can bring your body into a state of deep relaxation in which the body muscles can work the way they're meant to during childbirth.

hypnobirthing techniques
The process of hypnobirthing is based on the power of suggestion. Via visualisations, positive affirmations and suggestions the labouring woman/labouring person is able to relax her/their body, guide her/their thoughts and control her/their breathing. Hypnobirthing enables to work with our bodies, which is naturally designed to give birth. It releases the fear and negativity that has been programmed within us from an early age and replaces it with calm and confidence.
Hypnobirthing will also give an understanding of how muscles and hormones work during labour, as well as giving all the facts on risks and benefits and inform you about choice.
During the course I will talk a lot about the alternatives available to you, simply because you may not be told them otherwise. This is not to say the alternatives are necessarily better, but simply so that you are informed. You need to know what your choices are, and be able to discuss them sensibly with your medical advisers, so that you can make decisions that are best for you and for your baby.
