BodiesBirth
Hypnobirthing and Somatic connection
BodiesBirth is a unique group prenatal course that combines hypnobirthing and full antenatal preparation with somatic movement and journaling facilitation.
Thought by two artists, birth activists and doulas Amy Dignam and Dyana Gravina, this programme wants to shift the way people approach birth and the often information-filled time and offer a more somatic approach to it. Although you will receive all the information regarding the prenatal period and hypnobirthing tools, we will integrate the educational offering with journaling and somatic movement practices, creating a more embodied and connected experience.
Bodiesbirth is especially created to offer a personalised experience while being part of a group.
What the course will include:
Cost:
£325 total / £275 concession -
£45 non-refundable. A deposit secures you space, with the balance due before the first session
Light snacks and drinks are provided.
Where:
In a beautiful easy to reach Victorian house in the heart of Brixton, London.
More about the project:
Journaling: Journaling is incredibly beneficial, both mentally and physically. It enables you to process the events you experience, which leads to a healthy and holistic view of yourself. Journaling offers clarity by helping putting thoughts and emotions into words, colours and shapes and it builds gratitude. Journaling during pregnancy will also provide you with an opportunity to record your journey into motherhood/parenthood.
Somatic movement:
Hypnobirthing: The process of hypnobirthing is based on the power of suggestion. Via visualisations, positive affirmations and suggestions the labouring woman/labouring person is able to relax their body, guide their thoughts and control their breathing. Hypnobirthing enables to work with our bodies, which is naturally designed to give birth. It releases the fear and negativity that has been programmed within us from an early age and replaces it with calm and confidence.
Hypnobirthing will also give an understanding of how muscles and hormones work during labour, as well as giving all the facts on risks and benefits and inform you about choice.
During the course we will talk a lot about the alternatives available to you, simply because you may not be told them otherwise. This is not to say the alternatives are necessarily better, but simply so that you are informed. You need to know what your choices are, and be able to discuss them sensibly with your medical advisers, so that you can make decisions that are best for you and for your baby.
